This painting was inspired by an adventurous hiking trip with my husband to Zion National Park. Here we were exploring Kolob Canyon and I was struck by the majesty and dignity of these towering red rocks. They seemed to how the wisdom of the ages. I often feel the same about twisted, whitewashed, dead trees. What have they seen throughout the generations? I painted the clouds to echo the shape of the dead tree, almost like an echo of times past. A connection to those in whose footsteps we walk.
