This is the type of scene that I'd love to sit and paint forever but those billowing, dark clouds tell me I've got limited time. At the same time, I sure do love a good, summer afternoon storm. The power in those clouds is just awesome.

6" x 9" paper

Watercolor and ink on hand-made paper

I call them "sketches" because of how quickly I create them--usually between 20-60 minutes--and they're nearly always created "en plein air" (outside, on location), using water from the painting's subject, while my kids are playing.
